Fenelon Falls & Marmora

Marmora Generating Station, Marmora, OntarioIn 1995, Shaman Power Corporation acquired Consolidated Hydro Limited, which had built the Marmora generating station (‘G.S.’) in Marmora, Ontario and which also owned the rights to develop a G.S. in Fenelon Falls, Ontario. Fenelon Falls G.S. went into service in late 1997.

As a shareholder in Shaman Power Corporation, Gemini Power Corp. (GPC) has an interest in both the Marmora and Fenelon Falls generating stations.

The specifications for the Marmora and Fenelon Falls generating stations are as follows:

Operations:
Both plants are run-of-the-river plants, with Fenelon having head pond storage. Some of the features are:
Marmora:
1. Crow Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA) is the water control authority. Daily water quantities are determined and applied by CVCA.
Fenelon:
1. Trent Severn Waterway is the water control authority. Water quantities are specified on an ‘as required’ basis and applied by the operator of the G.S.
2. Ponding (utilizing Cameron Lake) is permitted. The control system is programmed to permit time-of-day generation.
